Why do you run when there's no race? Why do you lift when no one is watching? Why do you continue to physically strain yourself without any reward? Its because we all have a competitor inside of use and the love for the sport we play. I believe self challenge and motivation is the purest form of competition. The will to push yourself to the limits of exhaustion and physical pain for no other reason than for the love of the sport and knowing you have pushed yourself to the max.
In high school it was easy to be motivate yourself to train and practice as there was always a race or game in the near future to look forward too. Now that I no longer have races, or games I continue to train and practice but I now realize that those races and games in high school were just an excuse to challenge myself. It's easy to lose desire to challenge the self, and many people do, I hope to never lose it as it's what keeps the mind and body young. Lace um up and lets play!!!
